But For The Grace Of God

February 3, 2012 6

I think the series art is beautiful.

I believe the lobby refresh and logo redesign will be exciting.

But it’s the message that I am most excited about.

And not just the message in the Worship Center.

Across all the different venues of Good Shepherd — in that Worship Center, with our BigHouse students, and for all areas of children’s ministry — people will hear the same truths about grace and receive the same invitation to become eternally rescued by that grace.

Simultaneous salvations all across Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.

It’s why we’re in this ministry in the first place.

Sunday.

8:30. 10. 11:30.

I, too, think the art is beautiful. I like toe sign in the yard of the church. Will be anxious to see the lobby, but the message caught my attention the first time you mentioned it.

Following John’s wonderful message last week about remembering the times in our past where we were pulled through tough situations, this message, I believe, will help me have a greater appreciation for the gifts God has given to me (us).

    See you Sunday!

Is the running around in circles logo being replaced?

    Talbot,

God was definitely present at the 10:00 service yesterday. What a wonderful message you gave and oh what a Savior we serve.

So I wasn’t going to post anything about Sundays’ Sermon that Pastor Talbot had, about how people think they “make the cut” and go heaven, and those who don’t – well… I think we all know good and well where most people think they go. With that said, he also discussed how since we sin that we are sinners, when in fact it’s quite the invert. We are sinners by nature so we sin! Hence, Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.

In Ephesians 2:3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.

    However in Ephesians 2:4-8 Sate:

4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God

During this sermon I sobbed. OK, on an more embarrassing note MOST sermons I cry, but for the first time I wasn’t embarrassed about it. In fact, I cherished my tears, for this is the first time I am trying to find out WHY I am crying. I feel so much LOVE and and I OVERCOME with CONVICTION. I have a strong love for everyone and I want and NEED and more importantly feel LEAD to to Gods Work. But what is even strong than this love and conviction I feel is SHAME. I do not deserved to be noticed, t be forgiven… and yet he forgives me. I do not deserve his love, but he loves me. I am made to sin, and I have and I am sure I will again… but he will forgive me, I just pray he does show his wrath first. I deserve it.

Talbot thank you so much for one of the best sermon’s I have ever heard. Your sermon on Chapter 15 of Luke gave me a new understanding of my walk with Christ. Blessed I am, Blessed are we. Thankful am I. Thankful are we. I thought I knew how much God Loved me, I wasn’t even close to understanding that until today. My prayer is that all of us can and will by his Grace meet him head on as he so lovely draws us near. We are ever so fortunate to hear our Lord’s words spoken through you. Yes I believe that the Spirit of God leads you as you minister to us. How blessed we are to have you and the entire staff at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
