Elements, Week One — Bread

July 1, 2011 2

According to ancient philosophers, all things are made of four elements:
earth, water, air, and fire.

But what are the elements that make up life in church?

What’s the deal with things like communion, baptism, singing, and preaching?

How is it that God invites us to take ordinary items from everyday life, use them in our worship gatherings, and something extraordinary and eternal is supposed to happen?

Why do we do what we do in church?

Elements.

A series where we’ll discover what’s so elemental about the elements.

Thanks for stepping out boldly and speaking truths about traditions that are not biblically sound. Hope to see you again next Sunday!

Thank you for de-weirding communion for our commmunity. Too often religion puts walls up that keep believers from experiencing things that God intended us to celebrate “often” according to Jesus. I look forward to doing this in remembrance of Christ with my brothers and sisters more often, and with a greater sense of freedom
