Some Of What I Got For Christmas

December 27, 2012 2
Yes, Scripture tells us that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

But receiving isn’t so bad, either.

Here’s some of what I received this Christmas season . . .

Entertainment . . . Tickets to the Eric Clapton show (with opening act The Wallflowers) here in Charlotte on April 2.

Nutrition . . . A case full of Nutrageous bars.  Yes!

Fashion . . . A Roger Federer Track Jacket.

Education . . . A Books-A-Million gift card.

Who could ask for anything more?

One caution about Clapton….(I saw him in San Diego in 2006/2007). He has such a vast catalog and has played in three or four genres…if there is a certain style or era you prefer…you can’t guarantee he is going to play those songs for you.
When I saw him he was in sort of cross promotion mode for a album he was doing with JJ Cale (it was okay, I liked three-four songs on it). He was backed on the tour by the likes of Derrick Trucks and Robert Cray, among others. So it was a weird mesh of Eric I knew, Eric I didn’t (I’m not a Cream and sixties era expert), a lot of Derrick Trucks solos (okay, but I came to see Eric) and some stuff with Cale (whic was okay, but not famous kick ass stuff!) So, again go in with middle of the road expectations and you should be okay. Lastly, one annoyance….there were people holding up a few posterboards saying stuff like “Eric Clapton is God”, etc….and I don’t think I have extremely thin skin…but there was something a little off-putting about those signs.
