After The Dust Settles

November 7, 2012 4

So it’s over now.

If your candidate won, does that mean your life will suddenly get better?

If your candidate lost, does that mean your life will suddenly get worse?

Is your contentment determined by forces beyond your control?

Or does satisfaction and purpose have precious little to do with donkeys and elephants?

Please.  Be bigger, better, bolder than all that.

In this most political of seasons, I invite you to the wisdom of Psalm 20:7:

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

Indeed.

  • So true.

We are aliens in a strange country, and we are far from home.

    Our allegiance is elsewhere.

I have shared with you some of my views on politics and Christianity. You know that I do not vote, I often struggle with my faith and that church is just business as usual.

After scrolling the internet this morning, I find myself almost embarrassed to be an American or to claim that I am a Christian. I am not sure anymore that the latter holds any truth. I have no love at all this morning for those using “Christianity” as a platform to promote their freedom of speech with divisive and hurtful comments.

Are we not to show love to the individual(s) that were elected to lead by praying for them and the decisions they make?

Why do “American Christians” pray for only America and Israel, why not pray for all nations?

Does God see this in my heart or does he see the anger that consumes me? Maybe God sees me as just another judgmental being that has no place in the “Christian Community” or even in The Last Resort?

The Christian Community has yet again left me angry and disappointed.

    Well said and thought, Matt.

I know of one Christian community where you have a place.

“Call some place paradise, kiss it good-bye . . .”

Good thing there truly is a real paradise and no rich man can come and rape THAT land or put up a bunch of ugly boxes.
