ChristmasTIME
December 5, 2008 at 7:00 am 5
I love the way Galatians 4:4 puts it:

"But when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law . . . " (NASB).

The "fulness of time" is our focus this Christmas season at Good Shepherd.

The times we are in are unprecedented. Urgent. Anxious. Yet filled with promise and possibilities.

It all starts with "Time To Turn" this Sunday. 8:30. 10:00. 11:30.

The Annoying Love Of Jesus

Here's a video, put together by John Pavlovitz and Joe Jackson, that really brought home the point of yesterday's service, The Annoying Love Of Jesus.

So be on the lookout for the persistent, relentless, annoying love of God in your life today.

More Loved

So we've done How He Loves Us by John Mark McMillan both Sundays of the Loved series. You can see and hear it here, as performed by Kim Walker.

The first Sunday, our own April Geiger did a heart-stopping, awe-inspiring, goose bumping version of it as part of our closing invitation.

Then here's how we did it last Sunday:

I wonder how we'll present the song this Sunday?

There's one way to find out. Come see.

8:30. 10:00. 11:30. Week Three of Loved with a message called "Kept."

KidzBlitz

Tonight we'll have close to 700 kids at the church.

We'll have many others who are kids at heart.

If last year is any indication, a lot of those kids will understand and trust Jesus for the very first time because of KidzBlitz Live.

And that makes all the planning, advertising, toilet-papering, and praying worth it.

Come on out. Tonight -- Friday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m.

Unexpected Abundance
November 13, 2008 at 7:00 am 2
With the economy in such turmoil and so many people uncertain about their own jobs, we almost didn't do any kind of stewardship campaign this fall.

I'm glad we did.

Oddballs built to that Sunday in which we asked people to make estimates of their giving to God through the church in 2009. We went ahead with such a Sunday in the midst of fear and trembling.

The results still leave me stunned. 13% increase in the amount pledged. 13% increase in total numbers of pledgers. 175 households making pledges for the first time. In the middle of a recession.

God is good.
