In the center of the 23rd Psalm, everything changes.

Everything.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me . . .

It's my favorite part.

I believe our experience of it this Sunday will be powerful & poignant. I'm getting eager just thinking about what God will do with all the elements.

Valleys & Shadows. Sunday. 8:30. 10:00. 11:30.

Still, Week 2

So this week, our Still series moves to verse 2 of Psalm 23:

He maketh me lie down in green pastures, he leadeth me beside still waters.

Doesn't that sound nice?

Doesn't that look nice?

This Sunday, Good Shepherd will experience how it happens.

Still, Week 2. 8:30. 10:00. 11:30.

How do you "launch" something that emphasizes being "still"?

Here's how:

This series will be a departure for us. But it's a depature we must take.

Four weeks on the 23rd Psalm.

And I believe God will be in it, just as he is in those words: The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.

VBS Chariot Race 2009

There I am, hard at work at Vacation Bible School.

We're in Rome.

And you know what you do when you're in Rome.

So we had chariot races. The cardboard was the chariot; the teenagers were the horses.

How'd we do?

By the way, that's my son Riley on the chariot in the middle and our Student Ministries Pastor John Pavlovitz on the far right.

This photo was taken just as I was disembarking from my ride.

The funny thing about Vacation Bible School is the answers the children give to most of the questions:

Read your bible.

Pray.

Be nice to my brothers and sisters.

Obey my parents.

Help people.

What would life be like if we all lived by those simple answers?

I guess you really can learn everything you need to know at Vacation Bible School. Too bad it took me so long to get there.

Here's a video we showed in church yesterday featuring Linda Keziah and Annette Hamilton.

That's what Walking Together is all about. We want to create as much space as possible for people to walk alongside each other in friendship, laughter, and joy.
