So it starts Sunday.

We've been praying, planning, and dreaming for a couple of months.

I've been talking to as many people as possible about this crazy thing we're doing for Christmas 2010.

I've even asked my family who lives so far away to get involved.

It's What Child Is This? Part teaching series, part crusade against injustice, and part collaboration with our friends at the International Justice Mission.

It's a Christmas series unlike any other we've done here.

And I can't wait.

Because we want to break people's hearts with the reality of 21st Century slavery and then open their wallets to do something about it.

Sunday.

8:30. 10. 11:30.

Many of us have experienced the ways in which church can be an obstacle to faith rather than an empowerer of it.

When that happens, is there life after church? Is there faith after church?

John McEnroe always said that attaining the number one ranking in the world was easier than maintaining it.

In other words, life after success was harder than life before.

You may not be #1 in the world in anything, but you've probably had a measure of success in some area of life -- work, family, faith.

So what comes next? How do you navigate the often precarious position of life after success?

That's what we're talking about Sunday. And I've been looking forward to sharing these words for a long time.

We feel that way in life, don't we?

And, if we're honest, we feel that way in our faith. What had in an earlier season been both urgent and joyful now many times seems mundane and ritualized.

Boring.

Is there life after that kind of spiritual boredom? Is there hope for such a faith?

Having lived this reality, I think so.
