What If I Stumble?

June 1, 2009 5

I was so proud of Angela Hynds, Chris Macedo, and John Pavlovitz as they led into yesterday’s sermon with a haunting version of DC Talk’s “What If I Stumble?” Enjoy:

It was an ideal segue into the first message of unChristian — a talk which confessed that we 21st Century Christians are famous for what we are against rather than who we are for.

I’m ready for our congregation to leave a different impression on our community . . . an impression that we are relentlessly for people.

Awesome service! The person we brought actually said, “When it was over, I was wishing it wouldn’t end.” That’s pretty powerful coming from someone who has probably stayed away from christianity for some of the very reasons discussed yesterday. Thanks Talbot!

The closing song was my favorite. Powerful! I pray that we become a radical, sold out community that is always for God; and for every type person that is inquiring, seeking and living in relationship with Jesus.

That one was “Hookers & Robbers” by Charlie Hall, sung by our very own John Pavlovitz.

The talent that surrounds is pretty overwhelming at times.

“What If I Stumble” has been my DC Talk favorite song of all time!!! Those 3 talents on stage harmonize so well! I hope to hear from them again soon!

The last song was great!! Everything was right on!!! Even my 8 year old understood what you were teaching!

Great service, I agree the choice of songs was right on for the topic. Please sign John and Chris to lifetime contracts 🙂

UnChristian made me think of one other song, not sure if any of you have considered incorporating it. I had to play it as soon as I got home Sunday: “What this World Needs” by Casting Crowns
My favorite line is a voice over at the end “Jesus is going to save the world, but maybe the best thing we can do is just get out of the way”
