Can You Interpret This One?

January 24, 2011 7

In last Tuesday’s post, I admitted that I am unable to interpret dreams.

Apparently, that includes my own.

But did I have a doozy the other night . . .

It was Easter Sunday.

We had chosen to hold our worship services off-site. Some cavernous, confusing auditorium.

Chris Macedo had, against my wishes, placed the worship band in a location where it could not be seen by the congregation.

We encouraged our high schoolers to play ping pong during the service. They did so with abandon.

The PowerPoint did not work right — it projected abbreviations only.

I got lost on my way to deliver the sermon. Chris finished the last song and while I was scrambling towards the platform via a route I didn’t know I heard him say to the people, “well, I’m sure Talbot will be here soon. He’s never late for anything.”

Worst of all . . . as I was making that trek to preach I looked down and noticed that I had chosen the wrong shoes to match what I was wearing. My first thought was, ‘Julie will kill me for this.’

Was I glad to wake up!

Any takers on interpretation?

My interpretation: Time for a vacation! (after a good heart-to-heart with Chris Macedo…)

Maybe it has to do with the plans to eventually use the corner campus as overflow for Sunday morning services. Maybe it’s all about improving clarity – so that people, including staff, are not confused as to what to do, where to go or when to be there.

As for the shoes that don’t match – I can’t help there. Maybe consider a GSC uniform for the staff so no decisions need to be made about what to wear…especially when Julie is out of town!

In the end, after all the mistakes, people will be remember what God said to them through you! All those mishaps will be so memorable, that folks will remember what was preached as well…..I hope. 😉

I think all those Australian meat pies in 1976 are only now coming back to haunt you—a delayed effect—and are causing digestive rumblings, which are causing disruptive sleep patterns that are behind all those nightmares!!! Watch what you eat at night!

Are you sure it is not a blueprint for how God wants you to conduct the coming Easter service?

Talbot, Here is my go of it. It is Easter Sunday, the day of the resurrection, and during the entire proceedings everything that “went wrong” had NO bearing on the actual power or meaning of the message. romans 1:16 “…For it is [the gospel] is the power of God for salvation to ALL who believe”. The point, The Holy Spirit can make up for EVERY mistake we make, every plan that fails, every program we devise, BUT WE cannot make up for ANY lack of the Holy Spirit. Not with the perfect band, nor smooth powerpoints, not the right looks or the pithy sermons. The gospel and the Holy Spirit is INDISPENSABLE, and NOTHING else is.
