Upgrade, Week 6 — The Forever Upgrade

July 27, 2012 1
Kenny Chesney knows How Forever Feels.

Rod Stewart wanted to be Forever Young.  (It didn’t work, by the way).

Most of us want a BFF — a best friend forever.

But how about a Forever Upgrade?

That’s this Sunday.

But be warned.  The Forever Upgrade has to be teased out of one of the most terrifying sections in all of the bible.

I can’t wait.

Sunday.

8:30.  10.  11:30.

Dear Pastor Davis, your sermon this morning was perfectly timed to coincide with the Holy Blessings I have received this week as my employment search continues. I know that I am the recipient of Holy, I repeat, HOLY Blessings.

The employment steps I’ve taken this week were provided by our Lord, not me. The reduction of my anxiety was provided by the Ultimate Physician, not me. The quality sleep I received this week came directly from Father God, not pills.

Yet, in spite of these Holy Blessings, I know I will be tempted to sin and will sin in one form or another. As you have shared in sermons and as the bible has taught us, sin is an insult and an attack on the Lord. Our deliberate sin works to dilute the strength and power of HIS blood over us. I do not want to do that! I do not want to wage war against the Lord. I need the Lord for my very existence…my very being. I despise the knowledge that I will sin given the HOLY Comfort I have received.

Knowing I’ve received HOLY Blessings and yet will still sin against our Lord troubles me deeply. How does one combat the situation and spiritual sensitivity given the knowledge of the Lord’s blessings received and the likelihood of further sin?
