Shocked

November 2, 2011 2

I’m not easily shocked anymore, but Timothy Dalrymple’s post “The Young Christian’s Guide To Sex In Seminary” shocked me.

And made me grateful for the prevailing ethical environment at the place where I prepared for ministry.

  • I was not shocked by it, but only because of the colleagues I’ve talked to in the UMC who have spoken to me about their Seminary experience. (I am also an Asbury graduate.)

Wow. This is very sobering. I attended a private Christian school throughout my childhood, and I can relate to some of what Tim blogged about. At my school kids who were serious about their faith and didn’t attend drinking parties were geeks or goody two-shoes.

I’m really thankful to have had a spiritually-envigorating experience at Gordon-Conwell Charlotte and now at Wheaton College Grad School. Christian education does not have to be morally lax and spiritually bankrupt!
