With the economy in such turmoil and so many people uncertain about their own jobs, we almost didn’t do any kind of stewardship campaign this fall.

I’m glad we did.

Oddballs built to that Sunday in which we asked people to make estimates of their giving to God through the church in 2009. We went ahead with such a Sunday in the midst of fear and trembling.

The results still leave me stunned. 13% increase in the amount pledged. 13% increase in total numbers of pledgers. 175 households making pledges for the first time. In the middle of a recession.
